He wrote music for all people, and so even listeners outside of the jazz sphere took notice of him. + During the 1950s, Louis toured heavily. While his audiences loved him, if they were black they were frequently not allowed to attend some of his concerts here in America. It was during this time that he embarked on his famous tour of Africa, South America, and Europe. At this 1959 concert, he was joined by Trummy Young, Peanuts Hucko, Billy Kye, Mort Herbert, Danny Barcelona, and Velma Middleton. + The jazz favorites included here, like ""St. Louis Blues,"" ""Mack the Knife, and ""Tiger Rag,"" show the star in his unclouded glory, before the stressful life of being a superstar began to take its toll.
