Sparks: Sparks 1972

Ginza

"'Sparks"' were originally called "'Halfnelson"' from 1968-1972, formed in Los Angeles by brothers Ron and Russell Mael. The album that went by the title "'Halfnelson"' in 1970, was basically the first "'Sparks"' album. They are noted for Russell Mael"'s distinctive wide-ranging voice and Ron Mael"'s intricate and rhythmic keyboard playing style. This album is produced by Todd Rundgren, and engineered by James Lowe, former singer of 60"'s Psychedelic band "'The Electric Prunes"'. This is a striking, original piece of work with many highlights including the minimal single ""Wonder Girl"", the gorgeous AOR ballad ""Slow Boat"" and the Russell-penned song ""Saccharin And The War.""
