In 'Yours, Mine and Ours' (2005), Admiral Frank Beardsley (Dennis Quaid), a widower with eight children, runs his family like a tight ship, but his orderly life changes course when he is re-united with his long-lost high school sweetheart, Helen (Rene Russo), a free-spirited fashion designer with ten kids of her own. Frank and Helen plan to tie the knot, but with 18 children between them trying to sabotage the marriage, they discover that weddings - and the families - can't be built in a day. In 'Parenthood' (1989), Gil Buckman (Steve Martin) is a father rather too determined to give his kids the love and care which had been withheld from him as a child. Meanwhile, his Yuppie brother-in-law Nathan (Rick Moranis) is preparing his 3-year-old daughter for life in the fast lane by an accelerated learning programme which causes her to miss out on the more basic joys of childhood. Gil's sister Helen (Dianne Wiest), a single parent, struggles to control her uncommunicative son and wild daughter, while black sheep of the family Larry (Tom Hulce) returns to sponge off his father Frank (Jason Robards) in order to pay off gambling debts. Finally, in 'Baby Geniuses' (1998), Dr Elena Kinder (Kathleen Turner) and Dr Heep (Christopher Lloyd) have designs on world domination, and intend to achieve it by cracking the code of a secret baby language. One of their unwilling guinea pigs, two-year-old Sly, escapes and enlists the help of his twin brother Whit to thwart the duo's evil plans.
