The Ethnic Dimension in Politics and Culture in the Baltic Countries 1920-1945

This volume treats the interrelated topics of politics, national culture and minorities. The articles span from the notion of cultural autonomy to authorian régimes and harsh dictatorships as well as the manifestation of these in language and literature. With its delicately poised geographic position between two great powers in the 20th century causing turbulent and often violent historical climates, the Baltic area is a microcosm for research on the complex of these problems.
