Martyr (Import)

Arantxa Echevarría writes and directs this Spanish drama set in a Roma community. Young street artist Lola (Zaira Romero) feels the indignation of her parents when she rejects the notion of an arranged marriage and expresses her wish to become a teacher. When Lola meets Carmen (Rosy Rodríguez) she is immediately attracted to her. Recently married, Carmen is expected to bear children and become a subservient wife despite having dreams of opening her own hair salon. However, her encounter with Lola makes her question those expectations and soon their blossoming romance represents a rejection of the conservatism within their community.
