American drama in which L.A cop Charlie (Jack Nicholson) and his wife move to Texas when he joins the Mexican border patrol. Initially tempted to join his new partners in the racket of corruption and illicit bribes prevalent in the department, Charlie finds himself taking pity on the illegal immigrants he vets after a Mexican woman has her baby stolen and sold for adoption.
