He informs his friends of this and immediately sees their spirits rise, but as the news spreads so does a rumour that Jakob must have a radio, an offence which is punishable by death. When he sees the hope that the news has brought to the ghetto, Jakob puts his own life in danger by spreading rumours of further broadcasts.
