Relocating from a small city in Wyoming to San Jose, California, Shaun begins his surgical residency at St. Bonaventure Hospital. Having a photographic memory and the ability to visualise the internal human body Shaun knows he can be an asset to the hospital, but with members of the board reluctant to hire a doctor with his condition, Shaun faces an uphill struggle to prove himself and his skills. In this season, Shaun discovers that a patient's brother has cervical cancer caught in utero from his mother and St. Bonaventure Hospital gets a new owner.
